Mastic is one of the oldest materials used in the construction of worry beads. It is a mixture of two components: amber particles and bakelite and it usually comes from Egypt, Turkey, Persia and Syria. The vintage sets of mastic worry beads date back to 1940-1950. Later on, the way they’re being constructed changed. When this material burns it releases a scent very reminiscent of the scent of mastic and this is why it was named after it. It has a texture very similar to amber, though far more resistant.
This is a set of antique mastic worry beads with a colour very similar to the colour of resin.
