Mastic Worry Beads

Mastic is one of the most traditional materials among worry beads. It is a mixture of two components: amber particles and bakelite and it usually comes from Egypt, Turkey, Persia and Syria. The vintage sets of mastic worry beads date back to 1940-1950. Later on, the way they’re being constructed changed. When this material burns it releases a scent very reminiscent of the scent of mastic and this is why it was named after it. In terms of texture, it is very similar to amber, though far more resistant.

This is a set of antique mastic worry beads with a colour very similar to the colour of resin
